The Renegade Word
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
What We’re Looking For
Right now, we’re primarily interested in how-to articles on creative inspiration, the business of writing, and writing techniques from both established and emerging professional wordsmiths. Traditionally-published writers and indie authors are both welcome.
We welcome personal essays, literary criticism, book reviews, and interviews if they include practical tips for writers. We’re always looking for new resources for aspiring and established writers including software, book, and magazine recommendations.
We also publish short stories, poetry, novel excerpts, and creative nonfiction as part of our effort to promote emerging and indie authors! So if you have a short story to share or some insights to offer about your creative process, please feel free to submit.
Interested in Joining Us?
We’d love to have you! Here’s what you need to know:
- We’re a new blog, so can’t pay you for your contributions. (But we do occasionally run contests with cash prizes.)
- What we can do is enthusiastically promote your blog, services, product, or book.
- We will do everything we can to help you get your foot in the door if you’re new to nonfiction writing.
- You keep all your rights. You’re free to republish your columns wherever you like.
- We typically try to keep content between 700-1,200 words, but there’s no upper word limit.
- We are committed to publishing only the best, highest-quality content on writing and creativity – that means we are unable to accept every submission we receive.
If you have an article you'd like to submit for consideration, please create a Submittable account and submit your article or story, along with a brief bio and an author photo.
